New York Interior Design
Glenn Gissler is an award-winning, widely published New York interior designer known for elegant, livable environments and decorative arts expertise. Whether reimagining a SoHo loft, an Upper East Side ‘Classic Six’, or a rural or seaside retreat, Gissler’s full-service Manhattan-based design firm creates interiors that are spacious, light-filled, comfortable–and, above all, visually interesting. He meshes his clients’ needs and tastes with expertise in all that relates to the creation of home.
Gissler brings a multidimensional outlook to interior design. Trained as an architect at the Rhode Island School of Design, he has far-reaching interests in 20th-century art, fashion, literature, sociology, architectural and social history, and a general interest in objects as cultural artifacts. With a focus on residential projects, Glenn joins architectural concepts with thoughtful applications of lighting, fabric and distinctive furnishings and is committed to providing beautiful and extremely livable environments in which his clients are inspired to fully express themselves.
Glenn’s role in larger residential projects often includes assisting clients in the selection of architects, landscape designers and other consultants. For these superbly conceived and constructed spaces, Glenn orchestrates furnishings, lighting and fabrics which are chosen in close collaboration with the client. Beautifully executed mill work, finishes, custom furniture, and accessories are the result. His work includes residences in Manhattan, Westchester, New Jersey and Florida, as well as summer homes on Long Island and Martha’s Vineyard.
Widely published, Gissler’s projects have been featured in The New York Times. Town & Country, LUXE, Elle Decor, InStyle, House & Garden, Interior Design, and architecturaldigest.com, among others. He has also contributed to the book Interior Design Master Class, by Carl Dellatore.

ART ADVISING
Gissler has served as an art advisor for many of his clients. He has placed works by Joan Mitchell, Larry Poons, Louise Bourgeois, Nancy Spero, Cy Twombly, Pablo Picasso, Brice Marden, Jacob Hashimoto, Donald Judd, Richard Tuttle, and many others.
“Art in the interior is the great transformer, the secret formula for achieving superlative design.
The selection and placement of art in an interior are extremely important, possibly the single most important decision a designer will make. You can arrange and rearrange things almost infinitely, creating fresh, startling design perspectives and tableaux. The talismanic power of an object is enhanced by its position and the objects adjacent to it. The whole, forged by the intuitive selection and arrangement of objects in an interior, is exponentially greater than the sum of its parts.
I often assist my clients in purchasing art . . . and I encourage clients to buy the very best art and objects they are willing to afford, but caution that if everything they purchase is at the highest level, the provocative potential—the poetry—of juxtaposition is neutralized. – “Interior Design Master Class“
