For me, the answer is just over the hill from my still-pretty-new-very-old-house in Litchfield County at Maple Bank Farm. And they are GREAT neighbors!
One of the oldest family-run-farms in the United States, Maple Bank has maintained a delightful farmstand since the 19th century, offering organic produce, dairy, meat and fresh baked goods. And it is less than two minutes away from my house…
This week the New York Metro Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers announced the winners of their first-ever ‘Design Awards’, and Glenn Gissler Design received the Annual Inspired Designer Award ~ which recognizes one inspired designer each year.
It was an honor to receive this award, thank you to all the members of the ASID for voting for me!

Portières were an essential element in homes of the high Aesthetic Movement of the 19th century, and have long been of interest to me. These curtains, hung in a doorway or over the doorless entrance to a room, add warmth and style. I have sought to find ways to utilize them in contemporary applications, and regularly include the idea of portières in my ‘kit of possible parts’ in creating homes for my clients….
